Arts Festival 2010
The 2010 Arts Festival starts on Saturday 18th September and runs until Sunday October 3rd.
The aim of the festival is to provide an interesting,varied and exciting programme of arts related activities during a given period of time,usualy(September ), highlighting local talent. We like to include old favourites with new and original events. This year we have three fresh very different big events, the first being a Festival in the Old Town Quarry on Saturday September 18th with Dance demonstrations by Street dancers,Belly dancers,, Barcode Glee choir and St John's Ambulance Avon County Concert Band,performing on a specially constructed stage. Plus many more attractions .Saturday 25th September the Blakehay will host a day of film events starting with a chance to see the "NOSCARS " again. On the 2nd October a Music Fest is to be held at the University College Campus showcasing a wide range of young musical talent from around the area More details in the "Events" listing
The brochure cover was once again designed via a competition involving the first year students from the College Graphic Arts Dept. The winner chosen by public vote on the Mercury's web site was Matthew Elliot. The site atracted more than 5,000 hits.
Grateful thanks to Nick Sparks for all his help in tutoring this years brochure designer through the intricacies of various computer techniques necessary to produce a finished product with which we (the committee) are all well pleased.
